Voice
Voice is a very important concept in writing. The voice of story creates interest for the reader and adds to the effectiveness of the story. For example, if you want your reader to cry you would not make the voice of character happy. You would make the character's voice mournful. As you write it is very important to keep in mind the character and how they feel. You also need to know the goal of your story. If your goal is to give hope to the reader, then your story and character should have a hopeful tone to it. If you want to make the reader happy, then your character should have a more upbeat or silly voice. Voice is important in written storytelling as well as oral storytelling. In oral storytelling the person telling the story will use their voice to convey that voice of the character they are portraying.
To practice portraying the voice of character, here is a little activity to help you! You will pick character or object in the first list, and then you will pick an emotion that you want them to convey. (Or you can even create your own!) You will then write a short story using the character or object using the emotion in the voice of the character!
